Art is not a thing; it is a way.

Name: Kim
PB: Daniel Johns
Age: 18
Biography:
Kim grew up in the charming community of Jersey City – often referred to as ‘New York’s distant cousin, twice removed’. His mother was a stay-at-home wife and his father was a business man. Growing up he was more than happy to let his parents shape him into the little boy they desired. The attention was gratifying and enjoyable, so much so that his love for art was completely overlooked so its place could be filled with History, Math, and English. While his parents strived to make him into the well-functioning, polite, intelligent heir they had envisioned, the older he got the more difficult it became to keep his interests from gravitating, and the less he began to enjoy his work. By eight he had become something of a rebel. He constantly snuck out to play with the other neighborhood kids and enjoyed sharing his love for art with them, which when found, often brought his parents to the furious conclusion that his intellect was been tarnished by ‘little devils’. Individuality was not something they praised. In an attempt to stop these acts of creativity they buried him in whatever lessons they could afford to pay, basketball and various other sports included, much to Kim’s pleasure. Despite all this he was still able to sneak away from his parents’ prying eyes every so often, but now it was for more sinister reasons. Newspapers across the city spoke of stolen goods, picked locks, hacked computer and ruined video cameras. The parents themselves had a few valuable items stolen and immediately jumped to the conclusion a burglar was amongst their staff and fired them all, leaving Kim to fend for himself when left alone. For two years they remained oblivious to their son’s new interest.

The secret didn’t last terribly long after his tenth birthday, as while his father was replacing the contents of Kim’s readings shelf, he spotted a ratty old cardboard box sitting on the far back shelf and decided to investigate. What he found were items of various values. In his rage he locked Kim out the house and demanded he leave. Startled, and a little ruffled, Kim did as he asked without complaint. Three days later flyers reading ‘LOST: KIM [Omitted], HAVE YOU SEEN THIS LITTLE BOY?’ were put out, along with a small reward. Apart from been a little dirty and feverish Kim was soon found and brought home safe and sound, where he stayed for the next few years with a blessed amount of neglect on his parents’ part (yes, he was happy about it), no longer the heir his mother and father were previously interested in.

Kim’s sixteenth birthday brought a new child into the family. A little sister to be exact. Feeling selfishly betrayed and hurt over the birth of his little sister, Kim, after stealing a good amount of money from his fathers bank account, as well as a few of the other city occupants, left to travel the world.

That was, until he was tracked down by the police. It didn’t take his parents long to put him on the first plane to Niihau.
